Free standing Cooker
A flexible cooker hose and plug - in connector may be used to connect this type of cooker to the supply point. As a general rule the gas supply should be located 500-600 mm from the floor and 50-150mm from the right hand side. This ensures that it will not cause an obstruction when the cooker is pushed into position,by allowing the flexible connection to hang in the shape of a 'U'
The correct positioning also allows the cooker to be moved forward sufficiently to enable disconnection of the plug - in connection by the customer.
An isolation device must be fitted in the gas supply to every appliance and the plug in connector is an accepted method of isolation for free standing cookers.
The installer must provide a method of ensuring the stability of the appliance. In the event of someone leaning on an open door or using the appliance for support, the appliance must not be able to topple over and cause injury.A security chain can be used to provide stability for cookers.
Gas Hobs (Hotplates)
Gas hobs must be installed with rigid pipework. The appliance connection must incorporate an isolation device and a means of disconnection.
